What is ecology?

Ecology is not that difficult to explain. As we could see from the image above, ecology is put into the simplest explanation. It's looking at the relationship of all things on Earth with each other. Their roles could sometimes be called a niche. An animal moving to another place could be considered a migration. Everything has a role in a ecosystem and they all interact with each other. Some interactions could be good and some could be to a spices, especially when they move to areas they don't belong in and they become prey to another another or they could become the predators and prey on the other species in the area.
Every place in the world is classified into 5 major biomes in the world. Biomes are defined by the climates of the earth. Clam tend to be found around the eastern south coast of the globe easier, because of the warm temperature. In the Tundra biome they have the extremely low temperatures. The word tundra come from a Finnish word tunturia, meaning treeless plains. The tundra is cold and dry. The tundra could be found from the 60 degrees mark on the globe. The taiga is also cold, and could be found in to be around the mountain tops and desert areas. The taiga is cold and wet. In the temperate forest the temperature is seasonal and it ranges from cold to warm. The temperature forest could be found in some places in the east half of North America and the middle to Europe. The deserts are warm or hot and dry. Deserts could be found in many places of the world, such a most of the north part of Mexico, the top western part of Australia, etc. The savanna is seasonal and it ranges from dry to wet. The savanna temperature could be found around 70 degrees, putting it in most parts of Africa. The tropical rain forest, as the name suggest, is hot or warm and wet. It could be found at 68-93 degrees, putting it in most parts of Oceania and some parts of South America. All in all those are the major 6 biomes of the world.
Pearl Clams live in tropical rain forest because of the warmer and wetter temperature. This makes ending up on the beach a little less dangerous, because when the tide comes in, it's able to seep the clam off of it's shell and back into the water.

Pearl clam's ecology
Clam's species, mollusks are known to have a wide variety of ecosystems to choose from, sometimes. This ecosystems are mainly based in or near water because, as you would later learn from the other tabs on this website, water is clams only real source of survival because that's where they get their food, and because they don't have the advanced lungs like their cousins, gastropods, they need to take water in, in order to take oxygen for their lungs. They are usually found in the bottom of water, the depth doesn't really matter, but they need to be able to open their shells and use their foot to get around. Their short siphons helps them stay in the water for a long time without having to worry about predators or little shrimps that wants to nip at their siphons. They can't do much when in the bottom of freshwater, but sit there, not that they would want to do anything than sit there. Clams don't disturb the water when staying still, so they would sense when a predators's near or food is near by. They sit there and let food come to them just floating in the water, opening up their shells to get the tiny food in their shells. No one can't say that clams are not active participates in their environment. Clams survival is really based on their size, where they were planted, and time.
